Welcome Back to Books!

We are in our third week of school! Whew! It's going by so fast already, isn't it? I think it is time to slow down, and I can't think of a better way to do that than with a good book.

Here are a few of our library books that are on my To-Read list.

I am a fan of all things Disney and even though Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson has been in publication for a while, I'm finally getting around to reading it for myself.  The publisher, Disney-Hyperion says "This gripping high-tech tale will thrill every kid who has ever dreamed of sneaking into Walt Disney World after hours and wondered what happens at night, when the park is closed." I don't know about you, but I'm very interested in finding out what goes on at the Magic Kingdom after dark!

There are more books in the Kingdom Keepers series available in the LMC!

I am also looking forward to reading is The Wide Awake Princess by E.D. Baker.

I am excited to join Princess Annie on her adventure through Fairy Tale Land to save her sister Gwen and everyone else in the castle from a 100 year sleep. Sometimes I'm grabbed by the title of a book, sometimes, the cover art is what draws my attention. I think this book has a lovely cover! I wonder what the princess is thinking as she looks out the castle window?

Finally, on my To-Read list is Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. It was recommended by one of my librarian friends and the author's book Found is one of my favorites, so I think I will enjoy this one too.
In this Science Fiction story, we are introduced to Luke, a "Shadow Child", forbidden by the Population Police. He's never been to a birthday party or gone to a friend's house for the night. Sadly, Luke has never even had a friend. He has lived his whole life in hiding but discovers one day that there are more children like him and must decide if he should become involved in a dangerous plan to come out of the shadows. This is the first book in a series called Shadow Children.

Please ask Mrs. Cotton about any of these books if you are interested in reading them! They are all available in our LMC.

What books are you looking forward to reading this year and how do YOU choose what to read? Do you choose books based on your interests or do you like to look for in books with eye catching covers? Do you like to stick with authors you already know? Do you ever choose books that your friends recommend? Leave your comments below and let us know!
